Pansy Wine
I’ve heard that New Zealand is different. A wine maker in New Zealand has created a pink-hued wine for Australia’s gay community. It's called "Pansy". ![]()
I don’t know if that would fly in this country but hey, I would give it a try. They describe the wine as “fresh, funky and fun”, which perfectly describes me!

Until it hit the Australian press I'd never heard of it, and I see no reason to go out of my way to try it.

New Zealand and Australia ARE different. Despite Australia's prime minister having gotten a gay marriage ban through the legislature, both countries as a whole are very "live and let live," very sex-positive, and gay-positive almost to the same degree. There's a quality that's wonderful about Australia, a feeling that everything is still possible.
There are pockets of homophobia, no question. Sebastian (Holding the Man blog) suffered a nasty bit of harrassment not so long ago when the wrong people discovered his [admirably candid, extremely literate and beautifully written] blog. He had to shut it down and start again from scratch. But on the whole, there's an enthusiasm for life and an acceptance of teh individual in these countries that I found refreshing and exciting.
I kind of agree with you bj, but I guess New Zealand is different. It would never fly in the U.S.
But maybe it wasn't meant to be an insult, so maybe we shouldn't look at it that way?
There was a time that I would have found it offensive, but so much has happened to our community, that it's hard to take something like that seriously.
Am i just too p.c.? am i the only one who thinks it's a tad offensive for a str8 married couple to "thank" their gay friends by naming a new wine PANSY? oh, ok, they meant the flower, right?
