FDA Bans Gay Sperm Donors
To the dismay of gay-rights activists, the Food and Drug Administration is about to implement new rules recommending that any man who has engaged in homosexual sex in the previous five years be barred from serving as an anonymous sperm donor.
The FDA has rejected calls to scrap the provision, insisting that gay men collectively pose a higher-than-average risk of carrying the AIDS virus. Critics accuse the FDA of stigmatizing all gay men rather than adopting a screening process that focuses on high-risk sexual behavior by any would-be donor, gay or straight.
“Under these rules, a heterosexual man who had unprotected sex with HIV-positive prostitutes would be OK as a donor one year later, but a gay man in a monogamous, safe-sex relationship is not OK unless he’s been celibate for five years,” said Leland Traiman, director of a clinic in Alameda, Calif., that seeks gay sperm donors. Gee, now they are doing the same thing with sperm donations from gay men that the American Red Cross is doing with blood donations.
I say, forget about it. It doesn’t matter. If it makes society feel safer, I guess they can continue with their policies. It’s a battle I no long feel is worth my time, as long as they don’t come crying to me because they are short of blood.
It’s the same way with sperm donations. For me though, it’s a bit different. I used to donate blood, when I was allowed too, because I felt that it was a way I could help people. I wouldn’t want to donate my sperm, because the thought of having a child out there that was mine that I had nothing to do with would drive me nuts. I guess it’s just me, but I couldn’t do it.

I am absolutely convinced that being gay is genetic. I also do not believe they will ever find the "gay gene" because it is much more involved than that. If they were actually able to zero in on the "gay gene(s)" - I believe there are many factors involved genetically, and take them out of the DNA, I don't believe what was left would support life. Yes, I know, it's gruesome. Nurturing the individual after birth will not turn them straight if it is determined genetically, as I believe to be the case.
I use myself as a test sample. I never once thought if it would be possible for me to be straight, and believe me, I fought being gay like hell when I was an adolescent. If there was any way to be straight, I would have found it. I also never made a "decision" to be gay. I just was gay.
In terms of being a sperm donor, we can already make babies, and we are. Many lesbian mothers are opting to ask their gay male friends to be sperm donors for them. This happens a lot. Does a gay man add to the possibility of having gay offspring. I think it does (Kent could confirm this for me). I think there would be a 50-50 chance that the baby would be gay. Is that so bad? That is what we should be asking ourselves.
I want to say that the decision of the FDA to stop gay men from being sperm donors is for public safety, but I'm not that naive. It is the same damn thing and the same principles involved as with the blood supply - they just don't want us giving blood, despite the fact that ALL blood and ALL sperm should be thoroughly tested for HIV and all the other things out there. With the accuracy of testing today, there is no real reason, other than simple bigotry, to deny gay people from giving blood or sperm. If it is not the case that they can accurately test for these diseases, the general public have a lot more to worry about than gay men giving blood!
In terms of the sperm donation itself, I know there are scientists who know that being gay is genetic. I also know that they are trying to eliminate us from the human race. They will never say this, but I know that component is there, as Dan said.
This is a lot more sinister than a ban on donating blood.
If indeed there is a genetic factor in determining one's sexuality, then making it difficult for gay men to spread their genes might lead to a reduction in the number of potential gay offsprings.

Why are people so stupid,are we the only people on earth that see this,maybe they are afraid that our sperm is gay,who in there right mind would want to have a child today,with all the hate and crime,pick up a newspaper and read it,it is not getting any better.
