Major Victory in California
Handing gay rights advocates a major victory, the California Senate approved legislation Thursday that would legalize same-sex marriages in the nation’s most populous state.
The 21-15 vote made the Senate the first legislative chamber in the country to approve a gay marriage bill. It sets the stage for a showdown in the state Assembly, which narrowly rejected a gay marriage bill in June.
“Equality is equality, period,” said one of the bill’s supporters, Sen. Liz Figueroa, D-Sunol. “When I leave this Legislature, I want to be able to tell my grandchildren I stood up for dignity and rights for all.” (source)

I'm a Liz Figueroa fan too. This girl needs to be the Lt. Governor.

That is wonderful news, if california passes this then maybe the rest of the states will follow.

There is a good chance that the State Assembly will pass this on to the Governator on Tuesday.
But, I don't think there's a chance in hell that Arnold will sign it into law.
In the mid-1990s, there were riots in the streets when Gov. Pete Wilson vetoed AB 101, an law that gave GLBT people workplace protections.
I hope Schwarzenegger realizes that the same thing will happen if he rejects marriage equality. And, I'll be out in the streets burning him in effegy.
I don't know Fritz, but I'm really overjoyed for of you out in the sunny state! I hope it goes all the way through and the governor signs it into law as full marriage.
