Jeff,

I went through the same feelings as you, and wondering if I should do this - year after year. Then, I realized that I was doing it for her memory, and not myself. I never want to forget them and I never want to do them injustice by not taking the time to make the post.

They gave us so much. Even though it was tough to put this up because it made me think a lot about how much I still miss them (it's harder when you put some photos together because you realize how much you really miss them), I had to do it.

After the posting, Kent called. He said it made him cry, but it was important to remember her. I am sad, but I'm "ok". It's not like it used to be. It used to hurt like hell and many bitter tears were shed. Now, it's a longing to have them in my life again. And, more than that, it's a tribute to them and an acknowledgment of how lucky we were to just have had them in our lives.

As long as we keep them alive in our memories, have they really left us?

I may have written something like this last year because it feels like a bad case of déjà vu, but here it goes...

I was just now thinking of Athena when I came to your site today. Athena died three years ago on the 31st of this month, and of course I find myself thinking of her most often at this time of year.

I was debating whether or not I should put up a post for her this year as I have every year since she died, but after thinking about it I realized that that is the reason I do it every year... for her.

I hope you are getting by OK today, Bill. I wish I could think of something more comforting to say, but I can't so I will just wish you well.

Thinking of you today. She was a lovely cat and i bet you have some great memories. Pets give so much and Sasha was lucky to have a family who loved her as much as she loved them. Sending you a hug X
