Kent and I went out to Mashapaug Pond in Connnecticut a couple of weeks ago to "collect mushrooms" (for us, that means taking photos). It's one of my favorite spots to go.
Well, when I go out to Mashapaug, I'm never really sure what I will end up photographing. When you do macro photography, it goes slow because the exposure is done manually and it is very picky about settings. If you are off just a tiny bit, the focus will be wrong. So, setting up for one photo can take 20 minutes. It takes patience, which is probably why a lot of people don't do it.
On this particular trip, we wanted to try out the new macro flash unit we bought. It works well. Now, I just have to get used to it. Mushrooms grow in very dark places so lighting is everything.
There is a very large, very old tree stump near the path where Angel, Jackie, and I walk every once in a while. I noticed a couple of bright yellow patches of fungus growing on it. I will try to remember to go down there with the camera and take a few pictures of it and post them on my site.
I didn't realize there were other people who appreciated a good picture of fungus every now and again.

I took a couple of shots of the stump I mentioned, so if you are so inclined, you can go take a peek at them.
