I Love Winter, I Love Winter, I Love Winter...

I’m really trying to love winter. I am, honestly. It’s just that, if I were a bird, I’d be a flamingo; colorful, flamboyant, proud, and a lover of warm weather!

If I were President, I’d call for a constitutional amendment outlawing winter. I’d also take “Winter” out of Vivaldi’s, The Four Seasons. Be gone with it! Perhaps there could be two summers... something along that line.

Trees letting all their beautiful leaves fall should stop! Trees in the tropics deal with life without doing that. I think it’s fine to go through their little “fall color” thing, where they are all shades of orange and red, but then, go back to green.

I suppose that has about as much chance of happening as Mitt Romney introducing legislation (when he becomes President) for not only allowing gay couples to get married, but to also paint The White House something other than white! Honestly, haven’t we all had enough WHITE for awhile. Let’s paint The White House, I don’t know... “eggshell”, or “coral” (would be lovely), or “lightsalmon” (yumm), or “papeyawhip”, or perhaps “lavenderblush”? And while we are at it, why would it have to be just one color? I think we are going to need a committee formed to stop the obsession we have with white. Everyone says, “...but white goes with everything...”. Of course it goes with everything because it doesn’t do anything!

I would need another year to think about window treatments. Let’s just get some color on the house first!

Back to winter...

We even bought snow shoes this year. I’m a lousy skier, as in, I spend all my time trying to avoid the trees. And the whole time, I’m thinking about someplace warm. But Kent loves winter. So, I decided to give this snow shoe thing a try, all the while being convinced by others that it’s a blast. The only problem is, there’s no snow this winter. None. Just really cold weather. It was 6 degrees last night. Simply awful.

It's ok Jeff... We will be in Arizona in the first part of March (Tucson). Hopefully it will be nicer there, although, I've heard it too has been quite chilly.

I am a little late with this, but here in Ventura California a couple of weeks back it dipped down into the low 30s, and in some place, the high 20s. That is damn cold around here! A number of crops, strawberry, avocado, citrus, were ruined, and a lot of people are out of work because of it.

Our new house came with a bunch of nasty firewood that I have been going through faster than a Puritan in 1692. Part of the reason was to keep the place warm without costing me a mint in gas, the other reason is because the wood has been there a while, and is home to a lot of nasty little creatures. I am almost through with it, but my brother cut down a couple of old trees in my front yard, so I will have wood for next winter.

Um, sorry about the cold and snow. If I could box up and send you some California weather, I would.

Take it in stride Mary, take it in stride!

I've learned not to take life so seriously. Are there serious issues that effect all our lives that politicians just don't take so seriously? Of course there are. But I've learned that until politicians really start trying to do the right thing by people, and stop caving in to radical people, we should stop listening to them. At least if you are going to listen to them, do it with a smile on your face and give it all the weight it deserves.

This year, for me, the glass is half full, not half empty. I have so much in life that I'm grateful for. I don't let others bring me down anymore, and it's made a great deal of difference in my outlook for the future. Also, my blood pressure is lower and my "good" cholesterol is 14 points higher than just 3 months ago (I just knew that exercise was going to do something good)!

Life is good. :-)

You poor thing. I see the East is getting a major cold snap. It's actually projected to be above freezing today, which is a step in the right direction. Al Gore is visiting our fine city today (they had to change to a larger venue because it sold out so quickly), and it's quite fun to read in the paper about Al Gore's "alleged global warming." Larry Craig, our ever-so-conservative senator, actually did an anti-Gore editorial this morning. It's so fun to live in Idaho!
