First Comes Love

| | Comments (2)

“First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby in the baby carriage.” - Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney told a crowd of about 175 people gathered at a private club.

Nursery rhymes? I guess this is a first for a presidential candidate to include in a speech. So, the married people who never have a baby are somehow dysfunctional? Or wait, you have to be married to have a baby?

I think you are right Alexander... I really do believe that the country is moving away from the "religious right" (the radical right wing people) and into a more moderate territory. Some of these people are literally in their own little world.

Two days ago in the Hartford Courant, there was an Op-Ed article entitled "Romney's Pretty Hard To Believe In".

Then, this morning, in the Hartford Courant, there was an article entitled "Romney's Ancestors Practiced Polygamy", on Mitt Romney and how, even though speaking about what marriage should be, his family practiced polygamy not so long ago. I understand his father had number wives at the same time, and I believe his grandfather had eight wives. I honestly really do not get Mormonism, and they say I'm the strange one. :)

Things are getting better. I judge this from such articles as.....

Gay marriage is next step for Vermont
Panel kills gay marriage bill in Wyoming
Judge quashes anti-gay lawsuit

And on that last link, the judge said the following: ''In essence under the Constitution public schools are entitled to teach anything that is reasonably related to the goals of preparing students to become engaged and productive citizens in our democracy. Diversity is a hallmark of our nation. It is increasingly evident that our diversity includes differences in sexual orientation." - U.S. District Judge Mark Wolf

The list goes on and on and on... things are changing!

Maybe I'm wrong (I hope not), but I'm getting the sense that this country is OVER these religious whackjobs. People are fed up with being told how to live their lives. I say I hope I'm right, because if I'm not, and we're saddled with more of these Neanderthals and their medieval black/white, good/evil view of the world, things are going to get a whole lot worse for all of us in this country before they ever get better.
