Rainbow

I was on my way to the dentist this afternoon, driving through a small rain shower. It quickly cleared, the sun came out for a brief moment, and this happened. I pulled over to the side of the road, grabbed my little Lumix camera, and took a quick snapshot. And yes, the colors were really that bright. In fact, everyone was stopping to take it all in.

Rainbow, Coventry, CT

Don’t you love it when life throws a nice little surprise your way?

A year or so ago I was walking Jackie and Angel in a nearby park just after a small shower rolled through, and a full rainbow appeared from just beyond the parks boundary, and ending just inside the opposite end of the park. I had my camera with me, but of course I couldn't fit the entire spectacle in the frame. I ended up taking several pictures of it, and I think I knitted a couple together so that I had one photo of the whole rainbow.

I love the rain, and love being out in a small shower even more. Rainbows are the icing on the cake of that experience.

That's a great photo. I love the composition with all that stormy sky and the bright foliage colors below the rainbow. Great catch! The hardest part of a photo like this is actually making th effort to stop and take the picture. Good for you for capturing it and sharing it with the rest of us!
